Project Detail |
Training in cutting-edge technologies related to industry 4.0 is the ambition of the ETHIOPIA 4.0 project, winner of the second edition of the “Africa - France Academic Partnerships” program. Led by the Addis Ababa Institute of Technology in Ethiopia and SIGMA Clermont, it aims to structure a partnership training program provided from bachelors to doctorate levels.
CONTEXT
Ethiopia’s agriculture-based economy is industrializing, leading to a high demand for technicians and engineers.
Developing advanced manufacturing is one of Ethiopia’s priorities over the next decade. To this end, the country is currently building various industrial parks. The priority? Deploying advanced manufacturing systems with a skilled and trained workforce to cope with the technological globalization brought about by Industry 4.0, which is revolutionizing the way companies manufacture, improve and distribute their products.
Manufacturers are integrating new technologies, including the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing and analytics, as well as artificial intelligence and machine learning at their production sites and throughout their operations. The use of Industry 4.0 technology tools aims to optimize and make manufacturing processes more agile, making them more efficient and reducing their environmental impact.
DESCRIPTION
The ETHIOPIA 4.0 project aims to structure a lasting strategic partnership for higher education courses provided at the Addis Ababa Institute of Technology: a professional, quality Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate program that is attractive at the national and international levels. The ambition? To train technicians and industrial experts in the field of cutting-edge technologies related to industry 4.0, with industrial development and the production of clean products being priorities for the sustainable development of the country.
This project was selected as part of the second edition of the “Africa-France Academic Partnerships” program. This program is funded by the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) via the French Development Agency (AFD). It is implemented by the National Research Agency (ANR) and Campus France with the support of the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research (MESR).
