Project Notice

PNR 65622
Project Name TRANGA PROJECT - AN ACADEMIC PARTNERSHIP TO SUPPORT THE ENERGY TRANSITION
Project Detail Training the players in the energy transition is the ambition of the TRANGA project, winner of the second edition of the "Africa - France Academic Partnerships" program. Led by the Higher Institute of Technology of Antananarivo in Madagascar and the University of South Brittany, it aims to develop a hub offering a training course from bachelors to doctorate, research and technology transfer in the field of auditing and energy efficiency. CONTEXT The energy sector is a priority sector for Madagascar, where the electrification rate is 15%, electricity coverage in rural areas is almost non-existent and thermal power plants are in the majority. The countrys energy transition began with the integration of renewable energy sources. Efforts must now focus on energy control and savings in all sectors of activity. To achieve the objectives of reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, companies, whether producers or consumers of energy, must acquire increasingly advanced skills and have a good understanding of energy systems in order to identify potential sources of reduction in their energy bill. Therefore, the implementation of an energy audit system as well as the application of energy efficiency must be imposed both at the company and individual level. DESCRIPTION The TRANGA project aims to structure a lasting academic partnership for higher education courses provided at the Higher Institute of Technology of Antananarivo: a professional, quality Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate course that is attractive at the national, regional and international levels. The ambition? To train technicians and engineers who are experts in auditing and energy efficiency, in order to meet the scientific challenges imposed by the energy transition, particularly in energy-intensive sectors such as industry and housing. This project was selected as part of the second edition of the “Africa-France Academic Partnerships” program. This program is funded by the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) via the French Development Agency (AFD). It is implemented by the National Research Agency (ANR) and Campus France with the support of the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research (MESR).
