Project Detail |
The aim of this peer-to-peer partnership is to support EEP in areas of particular strategic importance for the security, sustainability and operation of the network.
Ethiopia s electricity sector is experiencing strong growth; Ethiopia has increased its generation capacity from 755 MW to 5,200 MW between 2008 and 2023. Ethiopia aims to increase its generation capacity to 17,056 MW by 2030 .
However, the Ethiopian Electricity Company (EEP) faces technical and organizational challenges in meeting the expectations of Ethiopian society and the commitments of its government.
DESCRIPTION
The technical support offered by this project is based on the relationship of trust and proximity developed between the Ethiopian public operator (EEP) and the French electricity transmission manager RTE international (RTEi) . RTE will support EEP through the following actions:
Co-construction of diagnostics and recommendations on the specifications and maintenance of different categories of EPP assets, particularly strategic and costly;
A comprehensive review of transmission system protection parameters, covering 200 substations, 400 power transformers and 330 transmission lines;
Complete diagnosis of existing EEP power transformers (400) and proposal of a preventive or corrective action plan for critical assets. |
