Project Detail |
As part of its multi-year investment program, the city of Le Robert has launched several sustainable development projects aimed at strengthening climate resilience, cultural life and social ties. These projects, such as the implementation of river bank protection systems, the fight against sargassum and sustainable public lighting, are supported by a subsidized loan of €4 million from the AFD.
Located on the Atlantic coast of Martinique, Le Robert is the third largest urban center in Martinique, after Fort-de-France and Le Lamentin. Its large population and economic growth have driven the citys dynamism, which seeks to combine urban development with respect for the environment. However, its strategic position on the coast makes it vulnerable to the impact of climate change.
This subsidized loan is therefore part of this two-pronged approach, aimed at sustainable development and resilience, supported by a long-term vision focused on the safety and well-being of its residents.
DESCRIPTION
Launched in 2023, the loan contributes to the financing of various projects in the multi-year investment program materializing this vision.
The completion of the media library works illustrates the desire to strengthen social ties and offer residents, especially the youngest, access to cultural and entertainment resources.
Aware of the challenges of tomorrow, the project anticipates the impact of climate change, such as through the reinforcement of the banks of the Yoyoye River in order to protect local residents in the event of floods. The construction of five anti-sargassum dams will help preserve both the well-being of residents and coastal ecosystems.
Finally, the City wishes to improve services to residents by improving the technical buildings of the municipal teams and by acquiring additional equipment and vehicles.
