Location: Jordan Project number: 55727 Business sector: Energy Notice type: State Environmental category: A Approval date: 09 Oct 2024 Status: Approved English-language PSD published: 16 Oct 2024 Project Description Provision of a sovereign guaranteed loan to the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) to finance the procurement, construction and operation of overhead transmission lines associated with the NEPCO Northern Green Substation, which will help improve the grids capacity to absorb existing and new renewable energy projects. Project Objectives The proceeds of the Banks loan will be used by NEPCO to finance several overhead transmission lines (OHTL) connecting a new 400/132 substation in Rehab with the substations in Samra 400 kV, Amman West 400 kV, Hasan Industrial zone 132 kV and Jerash 132 kV. The project will help (i) improve the absorption capacity of existing and planned renewable energy projects, (ii) increase dispatching flexibility, (iii) reinforce the North-Eastern high voltage electricity network; and (iv) facilitate network interconnection to neighbouring countries. |
