Project Description
The provision of a sovereign-guaranteed loan of up to KZT 38.4 billion (EUR 72.4 million equivalent) in favour of Zhambyl Su (the "Company"), a municipal water supply and wastewater company in the city of Taraz, Kazakhstan, to design and construct a modern wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) with the treatment capacity of 80,000 m3 per day (the "Project").
Project Objectives
Wastewater treatment in Taraz is currently limited to the use of filtration lagoons. Such treatment technology results in the contamination of groundwater and poses significant environmental and public health risks. The Projects primary objective is to improve the wastewater treatment and sludge management in line with the national and EU standards. |
