The proposed transaction consists in a senior loan to Banco Múltiple Caribe Internacional S.A. (“Banco Caribe” or the “Bank”) for up to US$20 million (the “Project” or the “Financing”) with a five-year tenor. The Project will support the Bank with a long-term financing facility, which will enable the growth of the Micro-, Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprise (“MSME”) portfolio and the women-led or -owned Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (“SMEs”) in the Dominican Republic. The Project is expected to be supported with technical assistance services to help Banco Caribe enhance its gender, diversity and inclusion value proposition to improve and expand the access of women-led or -owned SMEs to financial and non-financial services. In addition, the Project will include a blended financing component as financial incentives of the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative for up to US$200,000 subject to compliance with the Women-Led SME portfolio goals.
IDB Invest conducts an environmental and social due diligence (ESDD) commensurate with the nature, scale, and stage of the project, and with its level of environmental and social risks and impacts. The ESDD will confirm the project E&S categorization and assess the project with respect to the client requirements in IDB Invest Environmental and Social Sustainability Policy. The results of the ESDD, including any identified gaps are described in the Environmental and Social Review Summary (ESRS) provided below. For projects approved as of 2016, any gaps with respect to IDB Invests Environmental and Social Sustainability Policy at the time of the ESDD are addressed in the Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP) presented below, to comply with the date mentioned above. |
