Project Detail Project No. TPTWG_202_2023A Project Title Research and workshop on strategies and best practices to reduce road traffic related to trade in APEC economies using technology and artificial intelligence Project Status Project in Implementation Publication (if any) Fund Account APEC Support Fund Sub-fund ASF: Digital Innovation Project Year 2023 One of the main objectives of trade flows is to minimize delays in road systems, specifically in loading and unloading areas, such as intermodal terminals, seaports airports and physical borders. The main problem of congestion in these environments is that when capacity is exceeded, vehicle speed losses are generated and therefore saturation, causing negative effects not only in the operation, but also in society. This project consists on exploring good practices in the use of technology and/or artificial intelligence by APEC economies on traffic mitigation related to trade, and to propose technology or an artificial technology based solution to this problem, which will be available for implementation to all APEC economies. It is proposed in this project to the Laboratorio de Visión Artificial del Transporte (LabVAT), in English "Transportation Artificial Vision Laboratory", is a technological initiative that seeks to develop solution modules for traffic reduction, such as vehicle detection, traffic calculation, queue prediction and geographic positioning management.
