Project No. OFWG_09_2024S Project Status Project in Implementation Fund Account Self-Funded Project Year 2024 With the industrial development, busy shipping lanes, and increased human activities, coastal ecosystems are facing significant threats from marine pollution and natural disasters. The health of coastal wetlands--such as mangroves, seagrass beds, and salt marshes--along with the survival of marine mammals and the overall ecological security of coastal regions in APEC economies are increasingly at risk. This project aims to establish a platform for exchanging information and improving technologies related to the protection, restoration, and disaster reduction of coastal ecosystems across APEC economies. To facilitate these goals, a workshop is scheduled to take place from October 23 to 25, 2024 in Qingdao, China. The workshop will focus on training and sharing best practices in the area of coastal ecosystem protection, restoration, and ecological disaster reduction. It will bring together participants from various countries to promote practical cooperation among APEC economies. coordinated by different countries, to promote practical cooperation among APEC economies. The outcomes of the workshop will be shared among all APEC economies. Participants from APEC economies, international organizations, private sectors, academic institutions, local communities, and NGOs are all welcome. |
