The loan will finance the procurement of up to 100 electric buses to meet the growing demand for public transportation services in the city of Astana. Project Objectives The project is the continuation of the Banks involvement in the improvement of public transport operations in the city of Astana. It will support the deployment of electric buses and the expansion of public electric mobility in the city. The shift to electric mobility will significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, tail pipe air pollutant emissions and noise pollution. It also will also encourage a modal shift from private to public transportation with more safe and reliable public bus services. The project is a part of a comprehensive city programme to promote clean urban public transportation services including a wider utilisation of e-buses and the introduction of light rail transit (LRT). |
