Project Detail |
Beston Global Food Company will complete a feasibility study into site wide energy efficiency and electrification technologies for decabonising process heat at its dairy foods facility in Jervois, South Australia.
Need
Through the Australian dairy industry sustainability framework, the Australian dairy industry has set a 2030 goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions intensity by 30%. Assuming replication across similar sized dairy manufacturing facilities and a 30% reduction in baseline emissions, Beston Global Food Company predicts abatement of 341,400 t CO2-e per annum across the industry.
Enteric methane and waste methane contribute to around 70% of the Australian dairy industry’s emissions. This study is focused on decarbonising process heat in the production process where currently natural gas provides most of the required heat either directly (in the powder dryer) or indirectly via hot water and steam boilers. |
