Project Detail |
The project involves training health workers in Lebanese public hospitals and primary health care centers with a view to improving the quality of care in the public health system. The serious crisis affecting Lebanon has accentuated the difficulties of access to health services for the most vulnerable populations, who are increasingly turning to public hospitals and primary health care centers (PHCs) under severe strain. These structures are facing both an increase in the number of patients and a severe shortage of staff. This situation leads to a deterioration in the quality of care, which primarily affects women and children. Despite this shortage, hospitals remain reluctant to recruit new graduates from the classes since 2020, whose level of training has been impacted by the COVID crisis and the economic crisis. DESCRIPTION The project aims to improve the quality of care in the public health system in Lebanon by strengthening the staff and skills of health workers in public hospitals and primary health care centers. It will allow: To provide 12 public hospitals with training centers that are recognized and open to all; To improve the employability of young men and women in the field of nursing, by upgrading their technical and life skills; and support them towards employment in hospitals, primary health care centers or home care; To strengthen the skills of hospital staff in post and support them through a continuing training program; To contribute to reducing inequalities linked to the nursing profession. The main activities are: The layout and equipment of training rooms in hospitals; Training young graduates (additional practical training and professional skills) and unemployed young people in these centers (3 branches: nursing; nursing assistants; assistants) and assistance with their integration into hospitals, CSSPs, home care; Continuing training of hospital staff in post. IMPACTS The project targets 4,200 health workers and around 3 million patients. |
