Project Detail |
The objective of this CT is to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Urban Planning, Infrastructure, Mobility, Environment, and Natural Resources Secretariat (SEPUIM) of the Government of Baja California to implement and manage Shellnurse-type artificial reef strategies that contribute to the restoration of marine ecosystems and diversification of productive activities in the Gulf of California. The specific objectives are: (i) to build institutional capacities enabling systematic evaluation of Shellnurse-type reef functioning regarding their capacity to restore fish populations and other marine species and promote sustainable fishing; (ii) to identify governance and institutional management structures to be developed or strengthened for the successful long-term operation of Marine Ranches; and (iii) to lay the groundwork for designing public policies and financing mechanisms to implement the concept of Marine Ranches in the Gulf of California. |
