Support to EU-Guyana Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) Joint Implementation Framework. to contribute to develop a Green Economy in Guyana.
General Objective:
This project will contribute to develop a Green Economy in Guyana, via a low emission economic development pathway, by strengthening Guyanas governance and sustainable forest management with a gender approach.
Specific Objectives:
Improve compliance of Guyana forest sector governance system with the EU Forest Law on Governance and Trade (FLEGT) requirements.
Strengthen participation and improved compliance of stakeholders (government, private sector, venerable groups, civil society) in the VPA process.
Enhance information exchange for FLEGT compliance between the EU and Guyana partners and ensure the long-term sustainability of the FLEGT VPA.
Expected Results:
The Guyana Forestry Commission and the forest stakeholders implement the necessary regulatory changes, systems audits and joint evaluation, which will validate the legal status of the timber and secure a green lane for sustainable forest management. |
