The general objective of this TC is to continue the work under the Banks Initiative for the promotion of transboundary cooperation and integrated management of transboundary continental water systems (surface and groundwater) in Latin America and the Caribbean, supporting the governments of the region to strengthen its technical and institutional capacities under the four thematic areas of the Initiative: (i) access to data and information systems in shared basins; (ii) strengthening technical and institutional capacities for cross-border cooperation; (iii) provision of water resource planning tools and multi-sector water infrastructure or Nexus (drinking water and sanitation, irrigation, hydro-energy) in shared basins and; (iv) access to innovative financing for project implementation and infrastructure development in transboundary basins, with a focus on green and climate financing, and prioritizing access to nature-based solutions and the use of hydro-ecosystem services and the protection of the biodiversity. |
