Project Detail |
Historically known as the “land of fish and rice”, Jiangxi Province is renowned for its rich agricultural resources. The perishable nature of agricultural products necessitates their timely preservation and transportation to ensure quality, minimize spoilage and extend shelf life. However, the cold chain logistics facilities in the province currently fail to meet the growing demand. This leads to the loss of agrifood amounting to around RMB 4 billion annually, directly impacting farmer’s income.
The People’s Government of Jiangxi Province has therefore prioritized the development of the cold chain logistics and put forward the initiative on establishing the Provincial Cold Chain Logistics Backbone Network, to enable intra and inter-city cold chain logistics services within Jiangxi, as well as to support the province’s agricultural products to safely reach national markets.
The Project being part of the Provincial Cold Chain Logistics Backbone Network, aims to bridge the infrastructure gap in Jiangxi Province by enhancing the capacity for transporting and storing agricultural products on a large scale. The Project includes: (i) establishment of cold chain logistics parks at seven strategic locations in Jiangxi; (ii) development of smart cold chain management systems; and (iii) capacity building activities with a focus on research related to innovative cold chain technologies.
The Project aims to support the province’s initiative in establishing a modern cold chain logistics network that will contribute to minimizing food losses during the transportation process and fostering the growth of the agricultural sector. Furthermore, by implementing advanced logistics management practices and innovative cold chain technologies, the Project has the potential to serve as a model project for establishing industry benchmarks in cold chain logistics in China and other NDB member countries. |
