Project Detail |
The additional envelope of EUR 15 million for the PERRAD-III project complements the funding already allocated for PERRAD-I and PERRAD-II, and will make it possible to create a longer sewage network and a greater number of connection boxes in the districts targeted by PERRAD. The total budget available to carry out the work on the sewage networks of the 5 districts is thus increased to EUR 31 million. Constrained by this budget, a prioritization of work was made on the basis of technical criteria and environmental and social impacts for each of the 11 watersheds (BV), spread over the 5 districts targeted by PERRAD. The available budget should make it possible to carry out all the work on the sewage network in 6 of the 11 BVs and to provide access to the collective sanitation service to nearly 30,000 people. The purpose of the project is threefold: (i) to improve the living conditions of the inhabitants of DjiboutiVille; (ii) reduce health risks and the spread of waterborne diseases linked to the presence of wastewater; (iii) preserve water resources in a context of water stress exacerbated by climate change. |
