The main public economic operator in Northern Cameroon, Sodécoton contributes to securing the income of 160,000 producers and contributes 15% of the GDP of the North. Created in 1974, the company is in the process of optimizing its production tool, while being part of a trajectory of sustainability of its operating system.
The objective of the project is to strengthen the economic prospects of
nearly 2 million people, registered in a sustainable management of natural resources and sources of stabilization of food security issues. The specific objectives are: To enable Sodécoton to improve its cotton seed ginning capacity and thus produce a better quality fiber, while
supplying local markets with oil and cake (modernization of 7 factories and construction of a new one to increase capacity to 450,000 t/year); · Contribute to the fight against climate change, by developing the production of photovoltaic electricity to power its industrial system (5 photovoltaic power plants on 5 Sodécoton industrial sites; · Support Sodécoton in improving its environmental and financial governance, in order to jointly contribute to securing the financial health of the company and securing the income of cotton growers |
