The project aims to renew the railway line from Bélabo to Ngaoundéré in Cameroon in order to facilitate efficient, safe, sustainable and inclusive access for passengers and goods along the corridor and beyond, to the North and Far North regions and to Chad and the CAR.
The project consists of rehabilitating the Bélabo – Ngaoundéré section (329 km), on the existing route: renewal of rails, sleepers, ballast, occasional resumption of the platform, renovation of engineering structures and the drainage system, securing existing level crossings, occasional work in stations, work necessary for the repositioning of signaling systems. The specific objectives of the project are: (i) to increase the capacity of rail transport on the section, (ii) to increase the reliability and safety of rail transport, and (iii) to strengthen the capacities of Cameroonian stakeholders in the rail sector. |
