Project Detail |
The purpose of the Emergency Modernization and Strengthening of Rural Public Drinking Water Services in Crisis Zones (PMRU) is to improve the living conditions of vulnerable populations (IDPs, host communities) living in 10 rural municipalities in the Centre-North region. The project will seek, in particular, to prevent and reduce conflicts of use between displaced populations and their hosts, by strengthening the social bond between the communities, in a context of a security crisis that is already very degraded. Its overall objective is to strengthen, modernize and ensure the sustainability of access to basic water supply services for populations located in crisis zones. More specifically, it aims at the following three objectives: i) improving access to basic water and hygiene services for host communities and displaced populations; ii) contribute to sustainable and efficient management of water services adapted to the vulnerabilities of the population and iii) strengthen the capacities of local actors and institutions to plan, contract and regulate water supply services in crisis zones. |
