Creation of a guarantee fund to support green investments for air pollution control. The project’s main objective is to promote Bangladesh’s green growth trajectory by facilitating the implementation of innovative mechanisms to promote green investments and limit pollution. The project will support the
Bangladesh Bank to implement and pilot a green credit guarantee fund to incentivize the financial sector to
support investments in four targeted sectors : (a) the brick sector, to support its transformation from high-emission
and energy-intensive to low-emission and energy-efficient technologies, (b) municipal waste recycling and composting investments to reduce GHG (methane from biodegradation and black carbon and CO2 from waste
burning) and particulate emission from municipal waste management practices, (c) clean cookstove (biogas)
facilities to help avoid the generation and releases of GHG (methane), and (d) rooftop solar systems to reduce
demands for thermoelectricity and thus avoid GHG and particulate emission from associated thermoelectric
generation processes |
