The project will recruit 25 persons with disabilities or those engaged in work on disability from APEC member economies to receive 30-day training on handicraft making techniques and entrepreneurship development at the bamboo weaving techniques training base of the International Bamboo and Rattan Organization in Qingshen County, Sichuan Province, China. In order to ensure that the training achieves desired results, the recruitment of participants for this course will focus on the bamboo resources and the development of bamboo weaving industry in various member economies. The project aims to enable persons with disabilities to gain handicraft making techniques and guidance on entrepreneurship, so that they can find decent jobs with fixed income or start their own businesses, which will improve their living conditions, family environment and social status, and promote the economic empowerment and social integration of persons with disabilities. |
