Engaging citizens for sustainability solutions
Society is caught at the crossroads of democratic governance and the urgent call for sustainability. Striking this delicate balance is the EU-funded DEMETRA project. It aims to navigate tensions by analysing innovative deliberative participatory processes, offering inclusive solutions for the democratic engagement of citizens. Focusing on the critical case of transforming our food systems, DEMETRA systematically compares and identifies best practices across Europe. Focused on innovative deliberative participatory processes, such as citizens’ assemblies and e-governance, it aims to empower all segments of society, emphasising gender and intersectional aspects. Through a multidimensional approach and cross-national comparative design, DEMETRA will identify best practices for citizen engagement and sustainable societies. |
