Project Detail |
The project aims to strengthen the resilience of health systems, communities and individuals in the Bounkani and Tchologo regions, by improving access to gender- and conflict-sensitive sexual and reproductive health and rights services. The initiative works with health structures and different care providers to improve their capacities to deal with sexual and reproductive health and rights, and gender-based violence. Women, young people, community relays and religious leaders are sensitized to these issues in addition to being trained in mediation and conflict management. Project activities include: (1) training health providers on the identification and care of survivors of gender-based violence; (2) providing health structures with equipment, health products and medicines; and (3) strengthening the organizational capacities of the Network of Women Mediators in awareness-raising and support for survivors of gender-based violence, and in community intervention. This initiative directly benefits around 1,000 people, 60% of whom are women, and indirectly the 170,142 people residing in the intervention communities of the 2 regions targeted by the project. |
