The effects of circularity in Latin America
LATAM is a term commonly used to refer to the 33 UN-recognised countries in South America, Central America and the Caribbean. Various agreements link their diverse economies with the EU economy. The MSCA-funded UNICA project will examine the socioeconomic and environmental implications of transitioning to a circular economy in Latin America and its impact on the EU economy. This study aims to uncover the effects of circularity in the region. The project seeks to leverage expertise in circularity transition in the Global South and its connections with high-income countries to assess global circularity. It will aid in understanding the potential trade-offs of transitioning to circularity from a multi-regional perspective. Such information is vital for the implementation of circular strategies in the next decade.
In UNravelling the socioeconomic and environmental Impacts of Circularity in Latin America (UNICA), I will explore the socioeconomic and environmental implications of a Latin America (LATAM) circularity transition, and its impact on the EU economy. Using my expertise in assessing global circularity, I will contribute to understanding the potential trade-offs of a circularity transition from a multiregional perspective, which provides essential information to enhance the implementation of circular strategies in the upcoming decade. UNICA will allow me to foster my career in two main ways: 1) I will become an expert in the circularity transition in the Global South, and its connections with high-income countries, and 2) I will be able to develop a hybrid career, where I will be able to contribute to academic and non-academic institutions simultaneously. |
