Soon to be Canada’s largest hospital, TPGMH will be an important urban landmark reflecting Mississauga’s multicultural and vibrant nature
Better serving the communitys needs through expanded care capacity, reduced wait times, and improved patient experience.
Located along one of the city’s busiest streets, The Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital (TPGMH) will play a prominent role in connecting the City of Mississauga with surrounding communities. This groundbreaking redevelopment is critical to building an interconnected system of care to meet the diverse and growing needs of the community. The 23-story, 950-bed facility will almost triple the size of the hospital’s current care capacity, making it the largest hospital in Canada.
To help facilitate this complex project, Trillium Health Partners engaged us to provide planning, design, and conformance (PDC) services. In addition to complying with the many municipal and urban design requirements, our design resolved challenges posed by the size and complexity of the clinical programs and development phasing, which would keep the existing facility operational during construction.
The project is pursuing LEED v4 BD+C Healthcare Silver certification, an aggressive energy performance target, and voluntarily implementing the Toronto Green Standard sustainable development measures, in anticipation of meeting the City of Mississauga’s future standards.
TPGMH will enhance community cohesion, embrace future transportation systems, and integrate open green spaces with the public realm. |
