Location: Armenia Project number: 54703 Business sector: Transport Notice type: State Environmental category: FI Approval date: 01 May 2024 Status: Exploratory PSD disclosed: 29 Feb 2024 Project Description The EBRD financing will support the establishment of a Customs and Logistics Center (CLC) in the Syunik region (Syunik CLC, Syunik Centre) by financing the construction of customs terminal buildings and the acquisition of relevant equipment (the Project). The investment is expected to qualify for the Green building certification, resulting in Syunik CLC, along with similar centre in Yerevan, being one of the first government buildings to achieve such certification. Project Objectives The Syunik Centre is expected to increase efficiency and transparency of customs operations, improve the quality and introduce time reductions required for customs clearance services through the application of the One Stop Shop / Single Window concept. The Project is included under the EU Global Gateways, and it is aligned with the EU Flagship Initiatives for Armenia under the EUs Economic and Investment Plan, namely Flagship No. 4 (Building Resilience in the Southern Regions of Armenia), which aim to contribute to the sustainable socioeconomic and institutional development of Syunik region, Armenias southern and less connected area. The Project is also a part of EBRDs response for Armenias refugee crisis, as it will contribute towards resilience of the most impacted southern region of Syunik. |
