This project concerns the Economic Diversification for Job Creation for Youth and Women through MSME Linkage Program. It aims to facilitate economic diversification, particularly for job creation for youth and women, a Linkage and a Local Content Project targeting the MSMEs sector will be part of an effective intervention to provide a range of technical assistance (TA) and advisory services (AS). The project will provide institutional support and strength to several public and private sector players, particularly the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Business Promotion; the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Forests and Environment, the Ministry of Mines/Hydrocarbons, the One Stop Shop for Business (Guichet Unique), on Policy changes/infrastructure Upgrade, as well will engage with private sector players particularly Business Membership Organizations (BMOs) such the Chamber of Commerce, Women’s Business Association, Association of Local Producers, Association of Construction Companies, Association of Banks, the National Alliance of Hydrocarbons Services Companies (NAHSCO), will support several Enterprise Support Organizations (ESOs), such as business incubators, and Business Development Services providers (BDSPs), to upgrade their capabilities and create a coordinated ecosystem of providers which could be in position to support the current project and future ones. The project has five main components namely: (i) Project Management; (ii) Business Enabling Environment; (iii) Institutional Support to ESOs; (iv) Technical Assistance and Advisory Services; (v) Finance and Markets.
Project Objectives
The project development objective is to increase Job Creation for Youth and Women, Access to Markets and Finance for MSMEs through Economic Diversification.
Beneficiaries
The main beneficiaries of the project are youth, women and MSMEs. This project will help to improve (i) The Business Enabling Environment (BEE), to reduce the bottlenecks of doing business and increase the FI’s offering of better products to MSMEs; (ii) The capacity of Enterprise Supporting Organizations (ESOs), such as Business Membership Organizations (BMOs) and Business Development Service Providers (BDSPs), to offer MSMEs third-party service provisions; (iii) The capabilities of the MSMEs to increase the offering of high-quality services and goods following international quality standards, not only in the oil and gas sector but also in agriculture, fisheries, transport/logistics, tourism and ICT, including access to export market (regional and global); (iv) The value of contracts (access to markets) through business-to-business (B2B) and government-to-business (G2B) and Access to finance (A2F) through local commercial banks, with the final aim to create jobs, particularly for the youth and women. |
