Project Detail |
Infrastructure services like telecommunications, energy, water and transportation are fundamental enablers to achieve inclusive, resilient and sustainable growth in the APEC region. However, effects of the pandemic, fast-evolving technologies, and emerging developments, have impacted operations, investments and competitiveness, thus bearing implications for respective regulatory approaches.
Proposed workshop will facilitate information sharing and capacity building on regulation and competition policy experiences in infrastructure services, with a view to identify best practices that enhance economic efficiency and productivity. EAASR calls for open, transparent and competitive markets in APEC economies in order to promote strong, balanced, inclusive, innovative and sustainable growth. Effective competition and sound regulations are critical in this regard. Summary report of the workshop will reflect on experiences on infrastructure regulation, challenges of current practices, and ways of improving design and performance of regulatory system to make it more pro-competitive, consistent with the objectives of the EAASR. |
