Project Detail |
The technical assistance (TA) will enhance the effectiveness of Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) and Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) as building blocks of and platforms for regional cooperation and integration (RCI) in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The TA will also provide capacity building support for developing member country (DMC) officials participating in these two programs, as well as the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) regional cooperation program. The TA is aligned with strategic documents endorsed by national leaders at the BIMP-EAGA and IMT-GT Summits in May 2023, including the Accelerating Cooperation Together (ACT) midterm review of the BIMP-EAGA Vision 2025 (BEV 2025), and the Review and Assessment of the IMT-GT Economic Corridors.

Project Rationale and Linkage to Country/Regional Strategy The proposed TA will build on the successes and lessons learned from the current TA ending in December 2023, ensuring continuity of support for the BIMP-EAGA and IMT-GT subregional programs, and for ADB-supported capacity building initiatives for DMC government officials in the region. It will continue most of the valuable activities of the current TA to take advantage of the momentum gained in advancing RCI through these programs.
Impact
Greater integration within BIMP-EAGA and within IMT-GT as well as greater integration among these subregional programs and with the larger ASEAN region |
