Project Description
Provision of a sovereign loan of up to EUR 20 million to the Republic of Kosovo for the benefit of the Regional Water Company Bifurkacioni ("RWCB" or the "Company") to finance the extension of the wastewater collection network and construction of a new wastewater treatment plan ("WWTP") in the south catchment area of city of Ferizaj and the neighbouring communities (the "Project"). The loan will address critical wastewater treatment needs in Ferizaj and will benefit an estimated 90,000 inhabitants.
Project Objectives
The financing will enable the Company to extend its wastewater network and construct a new WWTP in order to collect and treat the wastewater in accordance with the relevant EU environmental standards. Implementation of the Project will result in significant environmental benefits by considerably reducing the volumes of raw wastewater, and its associated pollutant loads, that will be discharged straight into the river and local freshwater resources. |
