Project Detail |
CO2 emissions in the Georgian forestry sector are reduced.
Georgia is confronted with the ongoing degradation of its forests. This means that their biological diversity is decreasing, which means they can store less and less CO2. The main reasons for this are the rural populations high demand for firewood, environmentally harmful forest management, illegal wood extraction and the noticeable effects of climate change. There is a lack of data, regulations, practices and skills at all levels for long-term and biodiversity-friendly management of Georgias forests. |
