This workshop is a joint initiative of APEC and the Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases (GRA). This project will bring together young Indigenous People from self-identified interested economies to explore Indigenous-led measures to reduce the impact of climate change on food systems and food security, from the perspectives of young Indigenous People from across the membership of APEC and GRA respectively. Young emerging leaders will be given this opportunity to share their lived experiences and identify how their communities use traditional knowledge, practices, and food sources that can improve food security and resilience while having lower emissions. International collaboration and the transmission of traditional knowledge is required to sustain our environment for future generations. We will use this workshop to enhance the inclusion of Indigenous youth and Indigenous knowledge, showcasing how this can improve their economies food systems. This workshop delivers on one of New Zealand’s key action items in the APEC Food Security Roadmap Towards 2030, to share knowledge and experiences and make recommendations to PPFS on how APEC can unlock the economic potential of diverse groups of people, including Indigenous Peoples, within the APEC food system. |
