The implementation of the special training and employment initiative to achieve its goals in Germany and selected partner countries is supported.
One of the central challenges for Africas development is to create sufficient employment and income prospects. Against the background of the African population doubling to 2.5 billion people by 2050, 20 million new jobs are needed every year in order to be able to offer Africas youth a perspective for the future and a place to stay. In addition to promoting formal employment relationships, which are largely provided by medium-sized and large companies, this also requires greater mobilization of employment-intensive foreign and local investments. Through the Marshall Plan and the G20 Compact with Africa (CwA), the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) initiated the special training and employment initiative. This aims to promote employment-generating growth for companies. It creates new forms of cooperation with the European and African private sector, particularly through innovative and joint project developments. A focus is placed on sustainable industrial zones and parks as well as clusters (growth industries in a geographically defined region) as economic catalysts. There is also a focus on supporting small and medium-sized businesses. This overall approach requires access to the German and European economy as well as developed instruments and cooperation approaches. especially through innovative and joint project developments. The successful implementation of the special training and employment initiative to achieve its goals in Germany and its partner countries is supported.
The global training and employment project contributes to achieving the goals of the special initiative by supporting and advising, in particular, the state projects and the BMZ. To this end, approaches to cooperation with companies are being established in the project. The aim is also to develop approaches and instruments for employment-intensive investment projects with companies, to strengthen clusters and to promote small and medium-sized businesses in the context of the special initiative. In addition, the project ensures impact-oriented reporting and external representation of the special initiative: For this purpose, among other things, it brings together information from the projects and other instruments of the special initiative in a common monitoring system. |
