Project Detail |
The Emergency Aid Project for victims of landslides and flooding in the territory of Kalehe - Bushuhu and Nyamukubu villages in the province of South Kivu is part of the emergency support that the African Development Bank provides to countries in situations of ecological and climatic fragility. Project Objectives
The purpose of the Banks intervention is to cover urgent and essential needs in terms of rebuilding destroyed agricultural production assets and maternal and child health. The Banks action will help to mitigate the impact of this natural disaster and prevent a further food crisis in the coming months as humanitarian assistance stocks of food run out. Above all, it will help to ensure rapid socio-economic recovery after 3 to 6 months by rebuilding productive agricultural assets. Reviving production in short-cycle (3-month) agro-pastoral sectors, which are the main source of income for affected households, will help prevent social tensions that could result from a shortage of agricultural products intended for household food security and trade. |
