Haykadzor village of Shirak marz is in Ani region· It’s one of the settlements closest to the Armenia-Turkey border, it’s 37km from the regional center Gyumri, to the southwest. The population is engaged in animal husbandry, cultivation of grain and fodder crops. The population of the village is 600 people·
450 people live in Haykadzor community, and their main occupation is farming· The construction of the drinking water system, started in the Soviet years /1970s/, was not completed. Currently, the drinking water reaches to the village from the Armenian-Turkish border area through a pump.
The water supply of the village is in an extremely bad condition, which is a serious obstacle for the further development of the village and can be a serious reason for the residents to leave the village. Haykadzor settlement currently uses a deep well as the only source of water, which pumps water to the village once every 3 or 4 days, and the intra-economic water supply network, which was built in the 1970s and is currently defunct and completely dilapidated. The drinking water supplied to the population every 3-4 days is stored by the residents in their houses in different containers. Water supply distribution is currently carried out directly from the pumping pipeline through branches built by the residents themselves.
Water from the Akhuryan River is pumped from time to time to the settlement through the same pumping pipeline, existing pumping station and branches for watering cattle and irrigating households, the same system used for different purposes is very unhygienic and risky for health. The purpose of the project is to reconstruct the communitys water supply system in order to improve the state of the Haykadzor drinking water supply system, as well as to promote the effective management and operation of the water supply system.
Within the framework of the project, it is planned to carry out the following activities by stages:
clean the deep well,
partially reconstruct a 1600m long pumping pipe,
build a reservoir with capacity of 250 cubic meters and
build a 6000m long internal network, which will provide the village with stable water supply.
The deep well cleaning works, pumping pipe and reservoir construction works will start in 2023. |
