The development objective of the Green, Resilient, and Transformational Tourism Development Project for Zambia is to strengthen the enabling environment, access to resilient infrastructure, and economic opportunities in emerging tourism destinations in Zambia. The project comprises of three components. The first component, enabling environment for the nature-based economy objective to improve the enabling environment for the nature-based economy, focusing on tourism but including compatible nature-based sectors that operate in the same landscapes and contribute to their economic, social, and environmental resilience. It consists of following sub-components: (i) destination branding, planning, tourism marketing, and licensing; (ii) improved competitiveness of nature-based policy, regulatory, and institutional frameworks; and (iii) providing support for nature-based economy through matching grants for community-based partnerships and technical assistance to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The second component, improving climate-resilient destination access and basic service infrastructure aims to provide better accessibility and tourism-related infrastructure within selected emerging destinations of the Northern and Southern Circuits.
