The main objective of this TC is to assist IDBs borrowing member countries in strengthening their capacities and improving their knowledge in integrated management and policymaking in the areas of solid waste and water. This approach promotes preventive solutions and cost-effective management in dealing with urban and rural environmental problems aggravated by water and waste mismanagement. The specific objectives of the TC are to: (i) identify opportunities for an improvement in the current operational management of water and solid waste facilities at national and/or local levels in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) region; (ii) strengthen capabilities of LAC for a more comprehensive policy-making in those sectors by disseminating best practices of South Korea and enhancing adaptabilities of locally operational solutions to the region; and (iii) leverage South Koreas experiences in integrated policymaking and digitalized technologies across water and sanitation sectors, including but not limited to metropolitan solid waste, sewage treatment, and drinking water services.
