This new support is the logical follow-up to the actions of the 2nd Indicative Cooperation Program in the management of natural resources, particularly forestry. With the contribution to the Forest Sector Support Program (PASF), the Ministry of the Environment, Green Economy and Climate Change (MEEVCC) has notably been able to develop tools for planning, steering and monitoring its action and now has its sectoral policy document, a three-year action plan and a program budget by objectives. By building on the achievements of the PASF and on the second forest inventory, the new support should enable better knowledge, preservation and sustainable management of ligneous and non-ligneous forest resources by and for the benefit of the populations. It will complement the efforts of the MEEVCC in the implementation of its sectoral policy and in particular its budget programs 1 sustainable management of forest and wildlife resources, 3 local governance and sustainable development, 4 green economy and climate change. , as well as its “steering and support” program. The BKF/023, implemented in national execution, will be able to count in particular on the good production capacities that the MEEVCC has been able to develop within the framework of the PASF. On the other hand, more substantial support is envisaged at the level of certain regional directorates of the MEEVCC with a view to extending and better managing the forest development sites that supply the major urban centers with wood energy. BKF/023 will also support the transfer of skills to local authorities and will enable the protection and management of their conservation areas. Actions for the protection and sustainable management of the resource will be supplemented by reforestation actions. Finally, Beyond these actions in the field, BKF/023 will continue to support the capacity building of the MEEVCC in terms of coordination, management and implementation of its policy. Subsequent to continued support for the forest information system and the use of the 2nd forest inventory, BKF/023 will finally provide specific support for the functioning of the MEEVCC monitoring and evaluation system. |
