Project No. PPSTI 02 2023S Project Title Capacity Building for a Sustainable and Resilient Agri-Food Industry with Innovative Agro-Industrial Cross-Domain Technology Project Status Project in Implementation Fund Account Self-Funded Project Year 2023 Sponsoring Forum APEC Policy Partnership on Science, Technology and Innovation (PPSTI) Topics Science and Technology Committee SOM Steering Committee on Economic and Technical Cooperation (SCE) A resilient and sustainable agri-food ecosystem is crucial for the long-term prosperity of APEC economies, as emphasized by APEC 2023 and Putrajaya Vision 2040. Given that agriculture is the backbone of the agri-food industry, addressing the prevalent challenges in modern agriculture is essential to improve the resilience of the agri-food industry. This project aims to enhance agriculture by introducing innovative agro-industrial technologies and fostering capacity building. The focus is on effectively managing crop diseases, improving crop yield and quality, mitigating soil depletion, and bridging knowledge gaps using the IPM approach and digital platform strategy. Additionally, the project will address soil carbon sequestration to enable APEC economies to maintain a low-carbon economy and participate effectively in the carbon market. A hybrid workshop will convene stakeholders, including policymakers, equipment/ biopesticide manufacturers, AIoT system integrators, and end-users, to share experiences. A recommendation report will be produced, including policy analysis, success factors, and technical guidelines, for capacity building purposes. |
