Project General Description
Phase 1 of Dodoma Resilient and Sustainable Water Development and Sanitation Program aims to improve the supply of water for multiple uses by 2051 through the development of water resources in the city and surrounding communities. It is aligned with the Tanzanian Governments Vision 2025 and its five-year national development plan (FYDP III, 2021/22-2025/26). The program will contribute to the achievement of FYDP IIIs aspirations for steady economic and social growth in the country and improved health and livelihoods for the people in the targeted areas. The first phase of the program will comprise the following four components: (i) Water Infrastructure Development, which involves construction of the Farkwa dam, WTP, preparation of water conveyance systems to Dodoma City and three towns of Bahi, Chemba and Chamwino; (ii) Catchment Protection and Management; (iii) Preparatory Activities for Subsequent Investments; and (iv) Program Management and Capacity Development.
Project Objectives
The DRSWDSP development objective is to improve and expand water supply for domestic and industrial use, sanitation services, food and nutrition security by harnessing water resources and developing infrastructure and water and sanitation systems for Dodoma City, Bahi, Chemba and Chamwino towns.
Beneficiaries
The program will benefit the populations of Dodoma town and the localities of Chamwino, Chemba and Bahi. |
