The project involves the acquisition of the rolling stock and equipment needed to operate Dakars first Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system under a service concession. Objectives The project is led by the concessionaire selected by CETUD, the transport authority for Greater Dakar, for the operation of the BRT. It is therefore part of its long-term policy of reform and scope of the public transport system as set out in its Plan de Déplacements Urbain (PDU) 2008-2025, the strong axes of which are support for operators of informal transport. and the prioritization of supply on the BRT axes, also financed by the Bank and in the construction phase, the Regional Express Train, now completed, and feeder services, which are the subject of a third ongoing operation instruction (2021-0403 DAKAR PUBLIC TRANSPORT NETWORK RESTRUCTURING). A new Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan is also being prepared. The project should improve the quality of public transport provision in Dakar.
