Implementation of an advanced manufacturing technology (AMT), fully circular and fully industry 4.0 aligned electric arc furnace based steel mill (mini/micro mill) for the production of rebar and wire rod used in the construction industry, in Romania. The plant includes multiple innovative first-of-its-kind technologies that will be implemented in Europe for the first time. The plant will have a manufacturing capacity of 600 kt/y, uses close to 100% of steel scrap as raw material, employs electrified manufacturing processes and encompass an integrated solar photovoltaic (PV) plant covering part of its electricity consumption.
Objectives
The plant will use close to 100% of steel scrap as raw material, employs primarily electrified manufacturing processes, has a compact design, a low environmental footprint and encompasses an integrated solar PV plant covering part of its electricity consumption. Hence, the mini/micro mill to be implemented fully complies with low carbon and circular and steel making. In addition, it supports a project executed in a less developed region, thus supporting the strengthening of the EUs economic, social and territorial cohesion. |
