Overall goal The overarching goal is the further development and third implementation of the university course Global Citizenship Education (GCED). Global Citizenship Education is an internationally emerging educational research and practice field and has become a central educational concern of the Global Agenda 2030 (Goal 4.7) and UNESCO. The university course is a 6-semester master’s program for the professional and didactic qualification of pedagogues and other multipliers in global citizenship education. After 2 courses have already been successfully completed, the present project includes the implementation of a third course of the ULG, which has been conceptually further developed and, through an expansion to 120 ECTS, enables a stronger connection between theory- and research-based training and transfer into educational practice. The aim of the course is to impart (didactic) specialist knowledge on the basis of the latest scientific findings on the topic of global citizenship education, and thus to contribute to strengthening global citizenship education in the Austrian education system as well as to theory-led and research-based reflection on practice and the theoretical discourse. Expected results - Successful implementation of the course with approx. 25-35 participants (multipliers) - At the end of the course, at least 25 masters theses with empirical studies on relevant aspects of Global Citizenship Education must be submitted. - at least 5 publications in specialist journals and at least 5 lectures on the course. - Networking for professional exchange between course participants (and their institutions) and new initiatives to disseminate and strengthen global learning, global citizenship education and globally oriented political education. - Initiatives of the participants in their areas of work as a result of the learning processes in the university course (e.g. in school and lesson development, curriculum development; new educational offers in extracurricular areas of education). - The course thus reaches an indirect target group of around 2,500 people (schoolchildren, students, children and adolescents outside of school, adults) per year. In addition, larger target groups are reached through the integration of global citizenship education in curricula, through lectures and specialist publications. Target group / beneficiaries The extra-occupational university course for 25-35 participants is aimed at people across Austria who are active in the training and further education of pedagogues, directors and teachers of all school types and levels, adult educators and pedagogues from extracurricular child and youth work as well as multipliers from other areas (NGOs, politics, public administration, social sector, media). Cooperation partner: Carinthia University of Education. Activities 1) Implementation of the advanced university course Global Citizenship Education: The entire university course is part-time and structured in block form and extends over a total of six semesters. It includes four compulsory seminars (social science, educational and training focus and questions of practical transfer), two working groups, a study trip (probably Ethiopia), an internship and six blended learning units. It comprises 120 ECTS points including the preparation of the masters thesis. Members of the management team supervise all courses and ensure an intensive exchange with the participants. An active learning group should be formed to work on, deepen and develop the topics together. 2) Making the university course visible and international networking through lectures and publications. 3) Networking between the participants, cooperation. |
