Overall goal
The project strengthens the capacities of Roma women and girls to better deal with harmful norms, inequalities and discrimination. The project contributes to the protection and promotion of human rights and gender equality of Roma women and girls in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Serbia and Montenegro by empowering women and girls to live together with their partners, families and in the community exercise and live a healthy, decent life free of violence, inequality and discrimination.
Expected results
The expected results are as follows:
ER1: Strengthening the capacities of Roma civil society organizations, youth and other key actors to promote just and non-violent forms of coexistence, based on best models and approaches.
ER 2: Improved access to and provision of services for women and girls from RAE (Roma, Ashkali, Egyptian) communities (especially services for sexual, reproductive and maternal health (SRMH), with regard to gender-based violence and for education) by strengthening civil society Roma organizations and existing participatory community accountability mechanisms.
ER 3: Strengthening the influence and regional cooperation of the three national Roma womens networks through the efforts of the "Roma-Women-Balkan Network" to implement the EU 2020 Roma integration agenda.
ER 4: Roma women and girls, civil society organizations and networks are part of regional and global initiatives that promote gender equality and the rights of women (minorities).
Target group / beneficiaries
The target group consists of 150 employees from civil society Roma organizations and networks as well as decision-makers in the communities and local / national government officials; at least 6,000 young people (Roma and non-Roma) and community members in the destinations (if possible, differentiation is made according to gender, age, ethnicity and type of participation), around 85% Roma (50% Roma women and girls); 20,000 people in the three target countries reached through a series of media activities (press conferences, etc.).
Final beneficiaries: approx. 78,000 people in the 3 target countries, assuming that each person in the target group reaches at least 3 people in their immediate vicinity.
Activities
The project activities focus on the following core tasks:
Strengthening the capacities of Roma civil society organizations; community-based education that implements CARE best practices; providing access to public services for Roma communities, especially women and children; as well as the support of civil society organizations in further networking and integration in relevant regional and European movements. |
