Project Detail |
The project is meant to address risks and conflict related problems affecting Mthandazo and generally women gold miners in Zimbabwe.
These include political instability in the country, institutional weaknesses in mining sector administration and violence, abuse and criminality in the gold sector. Further, the women miners do not have adequate access to legal assistance on contracts and agreements signed with gold traders as well as the application of responsible sourcing standards such as the OECD.
The project will be anchored on several activities that include legal training, expert training on responsible sourcing, registration of women miners groups, dispute resolution, development of a Due diligence and Traceability System, construction of a storeroom, hiring of security guards and fencing of the Gold Service Centre to make gold mining and milling services sustainable and profitable among others activities. |
