The development objective of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Emergency Response project for Kenya is to prevent, detect and respond to the threat posed by COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and strengthen national systems for public health preparedness. This project has seven components. 1) The first component, Medical Supplies and Equipment, aims to improve the availability of supplies and equipment needed to respond to COVD-19 (Coronavirus) and other public health emergencies and strengthen the capacity of the Ministry of health (MoH) to provide timely medical diagnosis for COVID-19 (Coronavirus) patients. 2) The second component, Response, Capacity Building and Training, aims to strengthen response and build capacity of key stakeholders including health works and communities. 3) The third component, Quarantine, Isolation and Treatment Centers, aims to strengthen the health systems capacity to effectively provide Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and case management of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) cases. 4) The fourth component, Medical Waste Disposal, aims to ensure the safe disposal of waste generated by laboratory and medical activities. 5) The fifth component, Community Discussions and Information Outreach, aims to ensure there is a two- way communication between the government and the population. 6) The sixth component, Availability of Safe Blood and Blood Products, aims to strengthen the capacity of the Kenya National Blood Transfusion Service (KNBTS) to provide safe blood and blood products. 7) The seventh component, Project Implementation and Monitoring, aims to finance costs associated with the project coordination, activities for program implementation and monitoring and to strengthen management capacity |
