The new medico-social unit is intended to replace and extend, in terms of reception capacity, the current long-term psychiatric unit of the CHS. It will be a multi-purpose home, the missions of which are to provide a safe reception of care and a suitable living environment for patients who have become totally dependent (following severe old and fixed psychiatric pathologies or severe mental handicaps accompanied by disorders behavior).
The total capacity will be 42 places. The buildings will be constructed on the site of the Col de la Pirogue, which offers a good possibility of integrating activities around disability and the integration process. The structure will be operated by the Association for Social and Medico-Social Cooperation (ACSMS), an association created on the initiative of the CHS for the development of medico-social activities.
IMPACTS
This project should allow a better structuring of the medico-social sector, an alternative to psychiatric hospitalization, and the rationalization of treatment by freeing up hospital beds whose daily costs are higher than those of medico-social establishments. |
