Project Detail |
In the context of increasingly early agricultural and pastoral lean periods, anticipated depletion of food stocks, as well as structural food and nutritional crises aggravated by political instability, insecurity linked to conflicts fanned by radical groups and competition for resources, or even displacement of populations, the PREBC aims to strengthen the resilience of vulnerable populations in Mopti city, Socoura, Fatoma and Sio by revitalizing the system of cereal banks.
The design of this project came after an alert launched by SIF partners in Mopti, to which SIF responded with an emergency food distribution.
SIF and its partners are now proposing through this project to provide a sustainable response to food insecurity. Cereal banks, buying grain at local prices at low prices and reselling them during the lean season at social prices, is an essential part of the food security chain in the Sahel.
The PREBC sets up an innovative management system, providing spaces for negotiation communication between management committees, communities and town halls. |
