The project includes the acquisition of 38 four-car trains, the modernization of signaling and telecommunication systems and the adaptation of the existing infrastructure, including the installation of platform facades at stations, for the operation of automatic (driverless) two existing subway lines.
Objectives
The project aims to improve the quality of public transport in the urban area of ??Marseille. Its objective is to prevent the modal shift of rail to the road which would result from a gradual deterioration of the public transport service due to the obsolescence of the rolling stock. The project should also contribute, more marginally, to the increase of the modal share of public transport. The project therefore appears to be in line with the EIBs transport policy, support for sustainable development and the climate action strategy. It is thus eligible under Article 309 (c) for the common interests of the EU Treaty. |
